Michael Budnick created Northwest Concepts, Inc. in 1985 to guide low-impact site entry for new home construction. His projects, noted for their harmony and sustainability, include designing and building native landscapes for new homes and remodeling of existing gardens. Michael carefully preserves existing landscape features, and “recycles” all native plants, soils, and rocks possible on site. Through his work he has educated many new and existing homeowners in the San Juan Islands about the importance of native plants and preserving our precious soil and water resources. He was one of the first businesses on Orcas to adopt the use of biofuels in his equipment.
Michael’s dedication to and love of native plants extends into his volunteer service. He has volunteered landscaping services for the Orcas Center and designed and led a tree-planting project on North Beach Road, and walks his talk right in his own backyard by fully restoring his yard in Eastsound to a native plant paradise.
